E. T. Mohammed Basheer, (born July 1, 1947 at Mapprom in the Malappuram district of Kerala, India,) is a Member of India's Parliament who was elected to Lok Sabha from the Ponnani constituency, Kerala, with a huge margin of 86,000 votes. He is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, and a member of the parliamentary consultative committee.

Also he is the State Party Secretary of IUML, and an ardent supporter of its long standing coalition with the Indian National Congress Party. He is the most successful education minister in the history of Kerala. Basheer unleashed an avalanche of reforms, challenging the conventional concepts on education and outdated political ideologies, which had always hindered the entry of Kerala into the industrial and educational mainstream of India.
